new teachers
The new school year has also brought a plethora of new teachers, from all walks of life. Many have come from out of state just to be at Evergreen. Ms. Kitt, a new math teacher, moved from Richmond, Virginia to enjoy the mountains. Mr. Benson, a devout Red Wings fan, came from Michigan and teaches math and technology. Ms. Sutton was thrilled when she got an offer to teach, and moved from Ohio. They all agree that the beautiful rocky mountains and the town of Evergreen have a great, relaxed vibe. Many people have also come from within Colorado to work at Evergreen this year, such as Ms. Sjolund. She grew up in Jeffco and was drawn to EHS's great counseling program. Ms. Hennessy has worked in numerous schools in the county as well as many universities such as CU Boulder. She comes from a family devoted to public education, and the high achievements of students here attracted her to this job.

school clubs
There are many different clubs at our school that you can join. You can test your skills in state wide known DECA then embrace the words of others in Book Club. One in particular in these next two weeks will be joining in a world wide mission to raise awareness of the misogyny that is given out in foreign countries under the rejection of education. They have worked hard to be able to present "Girl Rising" in our small town school. It follows 9 girls in 9 different countries, and it shows their audacious journey to finally getting this education. It shows their persistence and all of the obstacles they go through including all the garrulously told them "no". This movie deals with extremely real matters happening everyday, but it also portrays the courageous fight that our girls and women go through. The Interact Club will be screening this film in the Evergreen H.S. auditorium on September 23, 2013 @ 5:30 p.m. They will be selling tickets to this event all week long from the 16th to the 20th after school, before school, and during lunch. Join the movement now.

just around here
Recently I got an opportunity to meet someone very unique; a subtle hero to our community, a hunter of stories and memories, and someone I can't wait to collaborate with. Linda Kirkpatrick is the head editor at justaroundhere.com, a beautifully designed website dedicated to celebrating Evergreen and all the people and events within it. Along with another one of our writers here at The Coug, Dylan Losche, I'll be helping Linda connect our great school and community. Take a look at what's going on just around here, and read student articles under the "schools" section, by clicking on the link below!
